About Liberia:

Liberia is located on the West Coast of Africa between Sierra Leone and the Ivory Coast. Liberia has a population of about 3.5 million. The capital city is Monrovia. The Republic of Liberia was established in 1847 when freed slaves from the United States returned to Africa and settled there. After suffering from 14 years of civil war, Liberia is beginning to rebuild but has many challenges ahead. With a destroyed infrastructure, water and electricity are not always available, and the average Liberian lives on $1.25 per day. The civil war left many children orphaned, poor and wounded. Newbury Park First Christian Church has been supporting the spread of the gospel and the work of the Anna Enoch Orphanage for over 12 years, with thousands coming to Christ and over 20 churches being established. Steven and Anna Enoch have established a Christian orphanage where they now care for over 80 children. The orphanage is in great need of repair and basic supplies. Recently the government of Liberia has added strict and costly requirements for orphanages. The government is now demanding that they build a new boys' dorm or risk having the boys removed from the orphanage. With nowhere to go these young boys would find themselves on the streets. The cost to build the new dorm is $7,500. See below to discover how you can “Go” with us in Liberia

How you can help:

1. Pray

  • Pray for the country of Liberia. Liberia is currently open to Christianity, but many of the neighboring countries are predominantly Muslim. Pray that the message of Jesus will continue to advance in Liberia.
  • Pray for Steven and Anna Enoch. This amazing couple has devoted their lives to caring for orphans and preaching the message of Jesus. Pray that God will bless them and their ministry.
  • Pray for the children in the orphanage – many of these children have seen the devastating effects of war and live in severe poverty. Pray that God will provide for their needs and that they will come to know Jesus.

2. Give

  • Consider giving financially to help build the dorm for the boys.

  • Consider having a garage sale to raise extra money for Project Liberia.
  • Spend the next few weeks recycling to make extra money for Liberia.
  • Consider giving up Starbucks or eating out for the next few weeks to free up some funds for Liberia.
  • Put your Liberia Envelope on your table at home where the entire family can be reminded to pray for Liberia each day.
  • Think about eating rice and beans for dinner one night a week for the next few weeks and talk about the physical need of the people in Liberia.
