Who We Are
Newbury Park First Christian Church (NPFCC) is an independent, non-denominational church. Whether you are a skeptic, seeker or believer, you are welcome here.
Our church is a group of people who believe that Jesus is God’s son and our Savior. We are followers and students of Jesus, and the Bible is our guide. We seek to constantly grow in faith and in our relationship with God. We know we are sinners and are imperfect. But we also know that God, through His amazing grace, forgives us. In matters of faith, we desire unity; in matters of opinion, we allow liberty. But in all things, we seek to have and to show Christ-like love, for we are His church.
We are a Restoration church, and strive to be like the church that existed during the first century – a time before denominations, hierarchies or creeds. The Restoration Movement began in the United States in the early 1800s. The leaders of this movement wanted to move beyond the differences that separate churches into denominations. They wanted to restore the church to a single body, and pattern it after the original church described in the New Testament.
Our History
Newbury Park First Christian Church was started by 15 families and held its first service on October 5, 1965, in a ranch house on Borchard Road. When the group outgrew the house, they met at Banyan Elementary School. In 1969, the church purchased its present site and began building the campus that exists today. Located in the Santa Monica foothills, near the corner of Lynn and Reino Roads, our campus overlooks Mount Boney and the Santa Monica Mountains. The campus currently consists of our Worship Center, Education Center and Family Life Center.
Today, many people call our church “home.” We hope you will, too.
